Mark 11:28; 12:1-27
11:28; 12:1-12 - "By what authority are You doing these things? Who gave You this authority to do these things?" Jesus uses a parable to answer their question. The answer describes Israel's past and points to the Owner of the vineyard as the Authority.
12:13-17 - "Is is lawful to pay taxes to Ceasar, or not? Shall we pay, or shall we not pay?" Jesus uses a coin to answer their question. He teaches that both the present political system and God's kingdom are to be respected. Give your taxes to the government and give yourself to God's Kingdom.
12:18-27 - "In the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be? For all seven had her as a wife." Jesus uses the Scripture to answer their question. He confirms the future reality of the resurrection of the dead and describes God as the "not the God of the dead, but the God of the living."
