The Opposition to Jesus Christ is Real!! Pharisees (Man-made religion) & Herodians (Political Humanism)
First they question Jesus: "Why does this man speak blasphemies? How is it He eats with sinners?" 2:7, 16
Next they question Jesus Disciples: "Why aren't they fasting like we do? Why do they do what's unlawful on the Sabbath?" 2:18, 24
Lastly, they plan to destroy Jesus: "Then (they)...immediately plotted...against Him, how they might destroy Him>" 3:6
Answering the Opposition the Way Jesus Did.
Jesus used demonstration: "Arise take up your bed, and go to your house." 2:11
Jesus used common sense: "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick." "No one puts new wine infold wine skins." 2:17, 22
Jesus used Scripture: "Have you never read what David did?" "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath?" 2:25, 27
Note what Jesus did not use: violence or despair.
